Right now WSU students and college students in general are
getting plain ripped off by textbooks publishers. We are often forced to buy a
new edition of a book for $125 or more. Why does there need to be a new
edition of a calculus book? Does calculus ever change, are there major new
discoveries? No, of course not. Unfortunately professors are enablers of this
textbook rip off by demanding you have the newest edition of the book.
Do you know almost the exact same textbook you are buying
for $125 is available in other countries for $25 (these are brand new books) or
less? Yes you are being charged $100 PER BOOK more than students in other countries.
Well one company is trying to change the system. Freeload Press has textbooks
you can download for Free or buy for around $40. Check it out here.

Well more Cougs will be able to fly home because the FAA is allowing bigger jets to land at the Moscow-Pullman Airport. Hopefully this will lower prices for flights (hey you never know). From Seattle-PI
"An FAA waiver approved Thursday will allow Boeing 737s and de
Havilland Dash 8 Q-400s to land at the airport, which serves an area
including Washington State University and the University of Idaho.
Airport
manager Robb Parish said that’s good news for the small-town airport,
which needs larger aircraft for peak travel times, such as university
holiday breaks.
The waiver was granted after three years of
work at the airport, including widening of the safety areas along the
runway. Officials plan to have the larger planes landing by this fall."

Cougster.com via a public disclosure request has obtained a market
analysis on expanding Martin Stadium done be the company Conventions,
Sports & Leisure. This information was not provided to students
before the stadium vote. Cougster.com also obtained other documents
related to the estimated costs of the Martin Stadium expansion. See
Sports files under Cougster.com Files to read these documents.
This
begs the question, why couldn’t WSU Athletics practice full disclosure
and makes these documents available months before the
vote?
